Shreyas Iyer Captains India A Against Australia A in Multi-Day Series

Shreyas Iyer has been appointed captain of the India A team for a multi-day series against Australia A starting September 16 in Lucknow, following his omission from India's Asia Cup T20I squad. The series includes two four-day matches followed by three one-day games, serving as preparation for India's upcoming Test series against the West Indies and South Africa. KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj will join the team for the second multi-day match to gain match practice ahead of the home Test series. The India A squad features a blend of experienced players and promising talent like Dhruv Jurel as vice-captain, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Devdutt Padikkal, Sai Sudharsan, and young bowlers such as Prasidh Krishna, Harsh Dubey, and Yash Thakur. Despite Iyer's exclusion from the Asia Cup, selectors continue to back him as a key player for the future, giving him a leadership role to prove his form and readiness for the senior Test team.
