Pitt Freshman Mason Alexander Dies in Tragic Crash

Mason Alexander, an 18-year-old freshman cornerback for the University of Pittsburgh, tragically died in a car accident in Fishers, Indiana. The accident occurred when the BMW he was a passenger in attempted to pass another vehicle and swerved to avoid an oncoming Toyota, ultimately veering off the road, hitting a tree, and catching fire. Alexander, a four-star recruit and standout player from Hamilton Southeastern High School, had recently enrolled at Pitt and was set to partake in his first spring practice. The accident, which took place near Geist Park, is still under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. The Pitt community, including head coach Pat Narduzzi, expressed deep sorrow over Alexander's untimely death, highlighting his positive impact in the short time he was part of the team. Former teammates and friends, such as Peyton Daniels, also paid tribute to Alexander's joyful and exceptional character on social media.
