Ghana Increases Cocoa Producer Price for 2024

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo announced an increase in the producer price of cocoa from GH₵3,000 to GH₵3,100 per 64kg bag, marking a 0.03% rise for the 2024/2025 crop season. This adjustment, equivalent to GH₵49,600 per tonne, aims to align prices with current market conditions and support cocoa farmers' incomes amid economic challenges. The announcement was made during the National Farmers' Day awards on November 8, 2024, where Nana Owusu Achiaw Brempong was named the National Best Farmer, receiving one million Ghana cedis for his contributions to agriculture. The President emphasized the importance of periodic price reviews as part of government efforts to enhance the livelihoods of farmers and tackle cocoa smuggling. Nana Owusu, a seasoned farmer with 50 years of experience, called for increased investment in local agriculture to ensure food security for Ghana's future.
