Tata Electronics, Himax, PSMC Partner for Display Chip Manufacturing in Gujarat

Tata Electronics has formed a strategic partnership with Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) and Himax Technologies to establish a display chip manufacturing unit in Gujarat, aimed at advancing India's 'Make in India' initiative. This collaboration will leverage the strengths of each company to provide comprehensive display semiconductor solutions, including chip design, manufacturing, and packaging, targeting both Indian and global markets. The partnership is expected to enhance supply chain resilience and meet the growing demand for display semiconductors and ultralow power AI sensing technologies. CEO Dr. Randhir Thakur emphasized the importance of this venture in establishing India's capabilities across the semiconductor manufacturing spectrum. The collaboration builds on a previous agreement to create advanced semiconductor manufacturing capabilities in India, with Tata Electronics planning significant investments for the new facility. This initiative positions India as a key player in the global semiconductor landscape, potentially transforming local technology ecosystems.
