Minnesota Mother Sentenced 39 Years for Child Torture, Blood Theft Scam

Jordan Nicole Borders, a Minnesota mother, was sentenced to nearly 39 years in prison for torturing her three children through medical child abuse and other forms of physical and emotional abuse. She forcibly extracted blood from her nine-year-old son, causing dangerously low hemoglobin levels, and used the blood to fake illnesses in her two other children, whom she falsely diagnosed with brittle bone disease, forcing them to wear casts and neck braces. Borders exploited these fabricated medical conditions to fraudulently obtain over $18,000 from the state Medicaid and additional funds from non-profits. The children also reported severe abuse, including being hit, deprived of food, forced to stand outside naked in the cold, and subjected to death threats. Multiple hospitals became suspicious when the son's health deteriorated without medical explanation, leading to an investigation that uncovered syringes and stolen medical supplies in the family home. Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison condemned Borders’ actions as some of the most heinous and heartbreaking cases of abuse he has encountered.
