At least 80 people were killed in a brutal attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on Jalqni village in Sinnar state, Sudan, following a five-day siege. The attack, which reportedly stemmed from the RSF's failed attempt to kidnap local girls, involved indiscriminate shooting and the storming of homes. This incident is part of a broader conflict that has claimed over 16,650 lives and displaced more than 10.7 million since fighting erupted in April 2023. Ceasefire talks have recently commenced in Switzerland, but the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) declined to participate. The RSF has gained control over significant parts of Sinnar state and much of Khartoum, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.
