Needles Found in Halloween Candy Across US, Canada

Sewing needles have been found in Halloween candy reported in multiple communities across the United States and Canada, including Canton Township, Mich.; several Kentucky locations (Madison, Barren and Glasgow); Scotia, N.Y.; and Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Reported tampered items include a sewing needle protruding from a mini Twix in Canton and needles discovered inside Twizzlers and an Almond Joy in Kentucky; photos of altered candy have been shared with police. Officials say the incidents appear isolated so far, no injuries have been reported, and investigations are ongoing. Authorities are urging parents and guardians to inspect and discard unwrapped or suspicious treats and to contact local law enforcement or provided tip lines with any information or evidence.
