Reddit Expands AI Translation to 35 Countries

Reddit is expanding its AI-powered machine translation feature to users in over 35 countries, including Brazil, Spain, Germany, Italy, and the Philippines, to enhance accessibility and user engagement across its platform. Initially launched in May for French speakers, the feature allows users to translate posts and comments into their preferred language, streamlining participation in discussions. Users can access the translation option via a button in the app, enabling them to follow and contribute to conversations in languages different from their own. Translated posts will be clearly marked, and users will have the option to view the original text for context. This initiative aims to broaden Reddit's user base and increase interaction on the platform, following its recent public offering and ongoing investments in AI capabilities. Reddit's CEO emphasized the goal of making the platform accessible to everyone, irrespective of their native language.
