QPAC to Host Abridged Shakespeare This May
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) will premiere at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre from May 15 to June 8, 2025, featuring a cast of three performing all 37 plays in just 97 minutes. The production aims to blend satire and physical comedy, appealing to both Shakespeare enthusiasts and newcomers alike. Meanwhile, JMO Theatrics showcased an innovative two-handed performance of Julius Caesar at the Dunedin Fringe Festival, where actors Elisa Jones and Josiah Moran effectively navigated the play's complex characters and themes with creative staging. In London, Shakespeare in the Squares will return this summer with a new production of The Taming of the Shrew, featuring 33 performances across 27 garden squares, offering a unique experience tailored to each location. Additionally, children in the UK are invited to explore Shakespeare's female characters during free events as part of Shakespeare Week, culminating in a festival in Stratford-upon-Avon at the end of March.
