Nafi Thiam Skips Indoor Season for World Championships Focus

Three-time Olympic heptathlon champion Nafi Thiam will skip the indoor season to focus on preparing for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, set for September 13-21. Her management announced that she will not compete in the upcoming European Indoor Championships or World Indoor Championships, which take place in March. Thiam has won three European indoor pentathlon titles but has yet to secure a world indoor title, having only participated once in 2014. Last year, she claimed her third Olympic gold in Paris but missed the 2023 World Championships in Budapest due to an Achilles tendon injury. As she trains in South Africa, Thiam aims to add a third world title to her accolades in the heptathlon.
