Father Arrested for Child Neglect in Florida

Nicholas Carter, 39, was arrested for child neglect in Palm Coast after a two-year-old was found wandering unattended, leading deputies to discover alarming living conditions for five children aged 2 to 16 in his home. The Flagler County Sheriff's Office reported that the house was filled with garbage, fecal matter, and hazardous items, including sharp objects and a BB gun, all accessible to the children. Upon entering, deputies were met with a strong odor of feces, urine, mold, and mildew, with unsanitary conditions described as 'deplorable' and 'horrid'. Sheriff Rick Staly highlighted the lack of care for the children, noting that three were under the age of 10. Carter reportedly downplayed the situation, stating the house was 'a little dirty' and could not explain the fecal matter and unsafe conditions. The Florida Department of Children and Family Services has been contacted regarding the matter.
