Gujarat Auctions Major and Minor Mineral Blocks

The Gujarat government has successfully auctioned 25 major and 2,280 minor mineral blocks, awarding Letters of Intent (LoI) to eligible leaseholders to commemorate 'Entrepreneurship Day'. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel presented the LOIs, emphasizing the importance of entrepreneurs in the state's development. Significant leases granted include a 50-year term to Bharat Quarry Works for the Shepa and Varvada mineral blocks in Junagadh and to Jessa Kandoriya for a similar block in Devbhumi Dwarka. These actions are part of the 'Vikas Saptah' initiative aimed at enhancing industrial engagement through transparent auction processes. Additionally, an application-based system has been implemented under the Ease of Doing Business initiative to facilitate quicker lease allocations for minor minerals on private land. Amendments to the Minor Mineral Rules now allow landowners to apply for leases covering up to four hectares, significantly streamlining the process.
