An attempted robbery at an Interstate 80 rest area in Hall County, Nebraska, resulted in the death of a 72-year-old man and critical injuries to a 71-year-old woman in a knife attack. The suspect, James Thompson Jr. from Elyria, Ohio, fled the scene but was arrested after a pursuit by the Nebraska State Patrol. The victims, both from Eureka, Missouri, have not been identified publicly yet. The Hall County Sheriff's Office is conducting an ongoing investigation into the incident, believed to have started as a robbery. The woman remains in critical condition, and the man was pronounced dead at the Grand Island Regional Hospital.
