Utah Grizzlies Expected to Relocate to Trenton New Jersey for 2026-27 Season
The Utah Grizzlies, a professional hockey team with a 30-year history in Utah, will play their final season in 2025-26 before relocating to Trenton, New Jersey. The sale and relocation followed the death of former owner Dave Elmore and the declining health of co-owner Donna Tuttle, prompting the Elmore Sports Group to prioritize the team's future viability. The Grizzlies are expected to move to the CURE Insurance Arena, formerly home to the Trenton Titans, with a formal announcement and a team renaming contest anticipated soon after. Throughout their history, the Grizzlies have been a successful franchise with numerous playoff appearances and NHL player developments, but changes in ownership and local dynamics, including the arrival of the Utah Hockey Club (Mammoth), influenced the decision. The 2025-26 season will mark their final campaign at the Maverik Center, with the team's final home game scheduled for April 11, 2026. Although the Grizzlies leave, hockey will continue in Utah through the Utah Mammoth, an NHL franchise without an ECHL affiliation.
