Skanska Secures NOK, SEK Billion Contracts for Oslo Metro, Swedish Prison Expansion

Skanska has secured two major contracts in Scandinavia, reflecting its ongoing expansion in the region's infrastructure and construction sectors. In Oslo, Norway, Skanska will build a new underground metro station at Skøyen for NOK 1.7 billion, enhancing connectivity and capacity at one of the city's busiest transport hubs, with construction slated to start in 2025 and finish by 2029. In Sweden, Skanska signed a SEK 1.3 billion contract to expand and renovate the Österåker correctional facility near Stockholm, involving the reconstruction of two buildings, construction of 13 new buildings, and related groundwork, with phased handovers expected through autumn 2027. The total project value for the Österåker facility, including previously invoiced work, is approximately SEK 2.7 billion across multiple phases that began in 2022. These contracts highlight Skanska's emphasis on sustainable and innovative development across the Nordics, supported by its broad expertise and a workforce of about 26,300 employees. Skanska's recent Scandinavian projects also include other public infrastructure and facility developments, underscoring its leading role in regional construction markets.
