SpaceX Bastrop Expansion to Create 400 Jobs
Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced a $17.3 million grant from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund to SpaceX for expanding its semiconductor research and advanced packaging facility in Bastrop. This expansion is expected to bring over $280 million in capital investment and create more than 400 jobs. The project will increase the facility's size by one million square feet over three years, making it the largest PCB and PLP facility in North America. SpaceX's Bastrop facility will focus on producing Starlink kits and advanced packaged silicon products, supporting high-speed, low-latency internet through Starlink satellites. This initiative highlights Texas's leadership in semiconductor research and high-tech manufacturing, as emphasized by Governor Abbott and SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell. The grant marks the fifth awarded by the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund, underscoring the state's commitment to fostering technological advancement.
