Georgia Tech plans to hire Karen Blair as women's basketball coach

Norfolk State University has announced the hiring of Jermaine Woods as the new head coach for its women's basketball program, pending Board of Visitors approval. Woods, a Chesapeake native and Norfolk State alumnus, brings 23 years of coaching experience, including significant roles at ACC institutions like Wake Forest and Virginia Tech, and most recently as head coach at Coppin State where he led the team to a 19-15 record and a run in the Women’s National Invitation Tournament. Athletics Director Dr. Melody Webb expressed excitement over Woods' proven leadership and recruiting abilities, expecting him to elevate the program further. Additionally, Norfolk State President Dr. Javaune Adams-Gaston highlighted Woods' exceptional talent in mentoring student athletes both on and off the court. This move comes as the university aims to continue the legacy built by the previous coach, Larry Vickers. Woods is anticipated to integrate seamlessly into the community and the program's ongoing success.
