SEPTA Rescues Mother Cat and Kittens

A mother cat and her five kittens were rescued from the walls and ceiling of the SEPTA's 63rd Street Station in Philadelphia, following their discovery by transit workers. After spending hours attempting to retrieve the animals, a SEPTA employee successfully located the kittens and their mother over the course of two days. The cats were taken to Stray Cat Relief Fund, where they received a health check and are now available for adoption. The mother cat, named 'Joan' after SEPTA's first female trolley operator, is believed to have been abandoned before giving birth in the station. Stray Cat Relief Fund representatives noted that this isn't the first instance of cats being found in the subway system, highlighting ongoing rescue efforts for animals in such environments.
