Lexington Coroner: Infant Cause of Death Undetermined After Mother Arrest
Authorities in Lexington, Kentucky, are continuing their investigation into the death of a male infant found wrapped in a towel inside a trash bag in a closet. Fayette County Coroner Gary Ginn reported that the preliminary autopsy results are inconclusive, with the cause and manner of death currently undetermined, pending further extensive microscopic testing. The infant’s mother, 21-year-old University of Kentucky senior Laken Snelling, who is a member of the university’s stunt team, was arrested and charged with concealing the birth, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse. Snelling admitted to giving birth and cleaning up before placing the infant and cleaning supplies in the trash bag. She pleaded not guilty and was released on a $100,000 bond, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for September 26. Police continue to investigate the case through their special victims section, emphasizing a thorough and methodical approach to ensure all facts are carefully considered.
