Massive flight disruptions across Russia due to Ukrainian drone attacks

A wave of Ukrainian drone attacks across Russia led to severe disruptions at major Russian airports, particularly in Moscow, where hundreds of flights were canceled or delayed and tens of thousands of passengers were affected. Flight operations at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky airports, as well as airports in other cities, were repeatedly suspended due to safety concerns. Airlines such as Aeroflot, Pobeda, and S7 warned passengers of ongoing cancellations, delays, and flight consolidations, and S7 offered full refunds or rebooking options to those impacted. Passengers experienced significant inconvenience, with many stranded in overcrowded terminals or stuck on planes for hours. The disruptions, affecting at least 60,000 travelers and more than 350 flights, are expected to have a cascading 'domino effect' on future schedules. The drone attacks and airport closures occurred just days before Moscow's Victory Day parade, which is set to host several international leaders.
