Long Beach Police Arrest Homeless Man for Sexual Assault, Seek Additional Victims
Alvin Marbra, a 29-year-old homeless man, was arrested by the Long Beach Police Department for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman early Tuesday morning near Alamitos Avenue and 4th Street. The victim was physically assaulted, rendered unconscious, and then sexually assaulted, according to police. Using security camera footage, detectives located and arrested Marbra later that day near 4th Street and Cherry Avenue; he was booked on charges including rape, assault with intent to rape, and assault with a deadly weapon, with bail set at $100,000. Long Beach Police Chief Wally Hebeish condemned the crime and praised the swift police response aided by technology and video evidence. Authorities believe Marbra may be connected to additional unreported incidents and are urging any other potential victims to come forward by contacting the Sex Crimes Detail or submitting anonymous tips. The police department emphasized their commitment to holding perpetrators accountable and preventing further victimization in the community.
