Rebecca Sugar Directs First U.S.-Produced Moomins Animated Feature

Rebecca Sugar, creator of Steven Universe, is set to write and direct the first-ever U.S.-produced animated feature film based on the beloved Moomin stories by Finnish artist Tove Jansson. The project is a collaboration between Moomin Characters and Annapurna Animation, with veteran producer Julia Pistor attached. This film marks a significant milestone as the first Moomin movie produced in the United States, aiming to introduce the gentle, adventurous Moomin family to a new generation of audiences. The Moomins, known for their values of friendship, kindness, and quiet rebellion, have been a global cultural icon with books translated into over 60 languages and TV adaptations in more than 120 countries.
