Ontario Man Faces Assault Charges After Injuring Home Intruder
In Lindsay, Ontario, a 44-year-old homeowner faces charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon after a violent altercation with an alleged intruder inside his apartment on Kent Street. The incident occurred early Monday morning when the resident woke to find a 41-year-old man, already wanted for unrelated offenses, inside his home. The struggle resulted in the intruder sustaining life-threatening injuries, requiring airlift transport to a Toronto trauma center. The intruder now faces multiple charges, including break and enter, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, mischief under $5,000, and failing to comply with probation. Following his hospital release, the intruder will remain in custody pending a bail hearing, while the homeowner has been released with a future court date. Police have stated there is no ongoing threat to public safety in the community.
