Avelo Cuts Routes, Adds ICE Charters and Seasonal Flights

Avelo Airlines is significantly cutting back routes at its Concord-Padgett Regional Airport base in North Carolina, eliminating service to Detroit, Nashville, Albany, Lakeland, and Washington Dulles due to poor demand, while maintaining some Northeast routes. The airline is also ending routes from Santa Rosa, California, but will retain its seasonal Kalispell, Montana route. In addition, Avelo will resume seasonal flights between Daytona Beach and Wilmington, Delaware, and continue year-round service to New Haven, Connecticut. Resources are being shifted toward operating federal ICE deportation charter flights from a new hub in Mesa, Arizona, a move that has prompted community backlash. These changes are part of Avelo’s broader strategy to address underperforming routes and adapt to operational and political pressures. The company aims to stabilize its core scheduled passenger services amid these adjustments.
