Students Charged in Gun Incidents at Schools

A 14-year-old student was arrested at Apalachee High School in Georgia after bringing a gun to campus, the same site of a deadly shooting in September 2024 that left four dead. The student, who did not threaten anyone, was charged with possessing a weapon on school grounds among other charges, and was taken to a juvenile detention center. This incident follows the arrest of Colt Gray, another 14-year-old involved in the September shooting, who faces 55 charges including murder. In a similar incident, an 18-year-old student at Flex High School in Flint, Michigan, was charged with felonies for having a stolen, loaded handgun in his backpack. The Flint student, who did not make threats, faces charges of receiving and concealing a stolen firearm and carrying a concealed weapon, each carrying significant penalties. Authorities in both cases emphasized the seriousness of bringing weapons to school and commended the efforts of school officials in preventing potential tragedies.
