Akara Robotics Deploys UV Robots at UK Hospital

Akara Robotics, a Dublin-based start-up, has deployed two UV decontamination robots at Friarage Hospital in North Yorkshire to enhance infection control and cleaning efficiency. These robots, which are capable of operating autonomously, were introduced following successful trials and are now assisting hospital staff in clinical areas. Funded by a donation from the Friends of the Friarage, the robots are part of a clinical evaluation to improve turnaround times in cleaning wards and operating theatres. Niamh Donnelly, co-founder of Akara, highlighted the robots' advanced AI capabilities, which allow them to navigate and decontaminate rooms based on programmed instructions. This initiative marks the first use of Akara's robots in a UK ward environment, showcasing a blend of technology and healthcare. The introduction of these robots represents a significant development in hospital cleaning practices and infection prevention efforts.
