The attack, attributed to the notorious 'Viv Ansanm' gang coalition, occurred in an area heavily dominated by gangs, which have taken control of approximately 85% of the capital. The interim president of Haiti, Leslie Voltaire, condemned the violence, describing it as an unacceptable assault against society's foundations. The hospital had been closed since February due to prior gang violence, emphasizing the severe insecurity in the region.
