Yunus's China Visit Marks Diplomatic Anniversary
Bangladesh's Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus is on a significant four-day visit to China, marking the 50th anniversary of China-Bangladesh diplomatic relations. During his visit, Yunus attended the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference and participated in numerous bilateral meetings, including with Chinese Executive Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang, to discuss reducing interest rates on Chinese loans and facilitating industrial relocations to Bangladesh. Yunus plans to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss strategic bilateral issues and explore opportunities for enhancing trade, investment, and cultural exchanges. Additionally, Yunus engaged with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk to discuss increasing wheat and fertilizer exports to Bangladesh. This visit underscores strong bilateral ties despite Bangladesh's domestic political changes and is seen as pivotal in transforming Bangladesh into an industrial hub with Chinese support.
