Netflix Plans New Pride and Prejudice Series

Netflix is developing a new series based on Jane Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice' with Dolly Alderton as the scriptwriter, although the project has not yet been officially greenlit. This marks Netflix’s first Austen adaptation since 'Persuasion' in 2022, which starred Dakota Johnson. 'Pride and Prejudice' is a classic novel that explores themes of love, pride, and societal expectations through the story of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. The novel has been adapted several times, including the iconic 2005 film with Keira Knightley and the beloved 1995 BBC miniseries starring Colin Firth. This announcement coincides with the BBC's upcoming 'The Other Bennet Sister,' a spin-off about Mary Bennet. Dolly Alderton, acclaimed for her memoir 'Everything I Know About Love,' adds fresh excitement to this anticipated project.
