Power Crime Drama Franchise Plans 18-Episode Spin-Off on Starz

Several new and upcoming TV series across various streaming platforms are generating significant interest. Starz has ordered an 18-episode spin-off, Power: Origins, focused on the early lives of James 'Ghost' St Patrick and Tommy Egan, with Mekai Curtis reprising his role as Kanan Stark and Sascha Penn as showrunner. Netflix released a trailer for the Brazilian crime drama Rivers of Fate, centered on a teenager kidnapped by a gang operating along the Amazon, which will premiere on August 20. Another Netflix hit, Untamed, a murder mystery set in Yosemite National Park starring Eric Bana, has become the platform's most popular show despite mixed critical reviews. The Veil, a 2024 spy thriller created by Steven Knight and starring Elisabeth Moss as an MI6 agent, is now available on multiple streaming services and has received praise for its lead performance and suspenseful narrative. Netflix is also preparing to launch Hostage, a political thriller featuring Suranne Jones as the UK Prime Minister whose husband is kidnapped amidst a broader international extortion plot, set to premiere on August 21.
