Fire Chief Saves Homes Amid Los Angeles Wildfires

Brian Fennessy, the Orange County Fire Authority Chief, used a carton of milk and a couple of beers to save two homes, including his brother's, from the devastating Eaton fire in Altadena, California. Initially reassuring his family that they were safe, Fennessy later learned the fire had reached their neighborhood, prompting him to check on their properties. Upon arrival, he found multiple homes engulfed in flames but discovered that his brother's house and a neighbor's were still standing. Lacking water to combat the fire, he forced his way into the neighbor's home to find anything to cool down a melting gas meter, ultimately using the milk and beer. His quick thinking helped prevent the two homes from burning down, marking them as the only ones left standing on the block. Fennessy expressed concern that such urban conflagrations may become a more frequent reality due to the changing climate.
