Old Crow Medicine Show’s Ketch Secor Announces Debut Solo Album for July
Ketch Secor, frontman of Old Crow Medicine Show, is set to release his debut solo album, Story The Crow Told Me, on July 11 through Equal Housing Records and Firebird Music. The album, recorded at Secor's Hartland Studios and co-produced with Jody Stevens, is a coming-of-age narrative that reflects on Secor's long career and the duality of looking both forward and backward, featuring guest appearances from Molly Tuttle, Marty Stuart, Critter Fuqua, and Willie Watson, alongside samples from Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash. The lead single, "Dickerson Road," pays tribute to a gritty, historically significant stretch of East Nashville known for its rough edges and musical heritage, with guitar contributions from The Cadillac Three's Jaren Johnston. Critics have noted the track's raw, bluesy energy and storytelling, which evoke the atmosphere of Dickerson Pike, a place known for its car lots, tire shops, and seedy motels, and the spirit of Nashville's castoffs and misfits. Secor described the album as a reflection on his journey and the challenge of carrying the substance of the past into the present, balancing old-timey music's regressive art form with contemporary storytelling. Alongside his solo tour beginning in July, Secor will also join the Railroad Revival Tour with Mumford & Sons and other artists, marking a significant new chapter in his music career.
