Final Charges Dropped Against Officers in 2022 Christian Glass Shooting
All criminal cases against law enforcement officers involved in the 2022 shooting death of Christian Glass in Clear Creek County, Colorado, have been dismissed, concluding the legal proceedings related to the incident. Glass, who was experiencing a mental health crisis, was fatally shot by former Clear Creek County Deputy Andrew Buen, who was convicted of criminally negligent homicide and sentenced to three years in prison. Six other officers, including former Georgetown Police Marshal Randy Williams, faced charges for failure to intervene or excessive force; however, charges against most were resolved through plea deals involving community service, training, and creating educational materials on de-escalation. The final charge against Williams was dropped after he completed community service and wrote an apology letter to Glass's family, with prosecutors noting no further law enforcement training was required since he is no longer in law enforcement. The Georgetown Police Department was dissolved in late 2024, with law enforcement duties transferring to the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office. The community and Glass’s family expressed a desire to avoid further trials following Buen’s conviction and sentencing.
