Australia Secures Full Funding for Public Schools Nationwide

The Australian federal government has finalized an agreement with Queensland, marking the last state to accept a deal that ensures full funding for public schools. Under this agreement, the Commonwealth's contribution to the Schooling Resource Standard will increase from 20% to 25% by 2034, injecting an additional $2.8 billion over the next decade to benefit approximately 560,000 students. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese hailed the deal as 'intergenerational reform' that will significantly enhance public education, assuring parents that their children will receive necessary support. This agreement aligns Queensland with other states that previously accepted similar funding deals, which are tied to educational reforms such as tutoring and wellbeing initiatives.
