Kwikset Launches Halo Select Smart Lock

Kwikset has unveiled the Halo Select, a smart lock that features built-in Wi-Fi and Matter support, allowing for seamless integration with various smart home platforms like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant without requiring a hub. The lock offers remote access via the Kwikset app, enabling users to lock and unlock their doors, grant guest access, and receive real-time notifications. Its Matter over Thread connectivity promises improved battery life, with the lock expected to last six months on AA batteries and up to nine months with a lithium-ion pack. The Halo Select also includes a touchscreen keypad, a door-status sensor, and a geofence feature that unlocks the door as users approach. This new lock, designed for DIY installation, is set to be available by mid-November, reflecting Kwikset's commitment to enhancing home security with advanced technology. An upgraded model, Halo Select+, featuring NFC tap-to-unlock, is expected to launch in early 2025.
