A court in southern Russia has sentenced five men to over six years in prison each for their roles in a mass anti-Israel protest at an airport in Dagestan last October. The men, who maintained their innocence, received sentences ranging from just over six to nine years for rioting, with one also convicted of violence against a government official. The trial was moved from Dagestan to Krasnodar due to its sensitive nature. The protest erupted after a flight from Tel Aviv landed in Makhachkala, incited by a local Telegram channel urging residents to confront the 'uninvited guests'. Video footage captured the chaos, with protesters waving Palestinian flags and injuring over 20 individuals before security forces restored order. President Putin blamed external influences for the unrest, which was condemned by both the United States and Kyiv.
