Bayern beat Dortmund, eye Schlotterbeck
Bayern Munich extended their perfect start to the season by beating Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in Munich, with Harry Kane heading home from a Joshua Kimmich corner as part of a scoring run that has seen him score in seven straight games for club and country. The win kept Bayern top of the Bundesliga with a 100% record (11 wins in all competitions) and left Dortmund four places and seven points adrift; Bayern’s second came when a Jobe Bellingham clearance deflected in off Michael Olise and Julian Brandt pulled one back late for Dortmund. Vincent Kompany has been credited with galvanising the squad and drawing the best from Kane, who says he feels at home in Munich and is being lauded as a Ballon d’Or contender, while club elders including Lothar Matthäus praise the renewed unity. Off the field, Bayern are eyeing defensive reinforcements amid contract tensions with Dayot Upamecano and doubts over Kim Min‑jae’s form. Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck has been reported as a potential target for next summer.
