Major Cyberattack Targets Australian Super Funds

A significant cyberattack has targeted several major Australian superannuation funds, including AustralianSuper, Rest, and Hostplus, compromising member data over the past weekend. The attack led to unauthorized access and attempts to steal funds, with some members reportedly losing money. The Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia (ASFA) confirmed that while many attempts were thwarted, some accounts were breached, affecting thousands of members. AustralianSuper reported 600 attack attempts, with stolen passwords used to access member accounts. Security measures have been heightened, and affected funds are contacting members to address the breaches and advise on protective actions.
