Estacada Man Arrested in Record Drug Bust

Anthony Barrera, a 29-year-old Estacada, Oregon, resident, was arrested on May 24, 2025, and faces federal charges for trafficking 270 pounds of methamphetamine and two pounds of cocaine from Southern California to Oregon, in what authorities say is the largest drug seizure in Multnomah County Sheriff's Office history. Barrera was apprehended at a rest stop near Roseburg after using a rented vehicle to transport the drugs, following a coordinated operation by the FBI and local law enforcement. Federal search warrants led to the discovery of the drugs and two illegally possessed firearms hidden under a closet floor in Barrera’s residence. Barrera, a convicted felon, admitted to making repeated drug runs and illegally possessing the firearms. He was ordered detained after his initial federal court appearance, with further proceedings pending. The investigation is ongoing and parts of the affidavit remain sealed.
