Two California Coaches Arrested in Sex Crime Cases
Authorities in California have arrested two high school coaches in separate incidents involving alleged sexual offenses against minors. In Long Beach, Gabriel Vigil, a 34-year-old substitute staff member and coach at Cabrillo High School, was arrested on suspicion of statutory rape and related charges after a teenage girl was allegedly sexually assaulted off campus. Police suspect there may be additional victims in the Long Beach case and are encouraging anyone with information to come forward. In Fresno, Miguel Lara, interim boys soccer coach at Hoover High School, was arrested for possession of child sexual abuse material and has been released on bail pending a court date. Both cases have prompted law enforcement to seek further reports from the public. School districts involved have been notified, but have not yet issued statements.
