Two Injured in Higgins Lake Boating Accident

Two individuals were rescued from Higgins Lake after being thrown from their speedboat, which lost control and ejected them into the water without life jackets. The Roscommon County Sheriff's Office reported that the victims, suspected to have sustained broken bones, were located about a mile from the shore after attempts by other boaters to assist them failed. Deputies used both their patrol boat and a borrowed pontoon from a civilian to reach and transport the victims safely to shore, where EMS was waiting. Fortunately, all occupants survived the incident despite the severity of their injuries not being detailed. Meanwhile, the RNLI has issued warnings against using inflatable dinghies at sea, highlighting a recent rescue of a couple off Cullercoats Bay who were suffering from extreme cold and shock after being blown out to sea.
