Pogačar road race
Tadej Pogačar of Slovenia won the men's road race at the world championships in Zurich, solidifying his status as a cycling superstar. The 26-year-old launched a remarkable solo attack with 100 kilometers left, finishing 34 seconds ahead of Australia's Ben O'Connor, who took silver, while Dutch cyclist Mathieu van der Poel claimed bronze. This victory makes Pogačar the first Slovenian to win the world title on the road and completes his historic Triple Crown, having also won the Giro d'Italia and Tour de France this year. Pogačar's emotional win saw him cross the line with his arms raised, celebrating his achievement after previously finishing third the prior year. The challenging 273-kilometer course featured significant elevation gains, testing the riders' endurance and strategy throughout the race.
