Paris Surpasses London as Europe’s Leading Tech Hub

Paris has overtaken London as Europe's leading tech hub, driven by rapid growth in startup valuations and a thriving AI ecosystem. Between 2017 and 2024, the combined enterprise value of Paris-based startups grew 5.3 times, surpassing London's 4.2-fold increase, despite London attracting higher total venture capital funding. Key AI companies such as Mistral AI and Poolside have played a significant role, with AI startups accounting for nearly half of Paris's VC funding last year. Paris also leads in patent filings and benefits from a strong talent pool nurtured by top universities like École Polytechnique, bolstered by government pro-innovation policies and initiatives like the Station F incubator. The city's status as a global tech hub is further highlighted by its inclusion in Dealroom's top five global startup ecosystems and the upcoming VivaTech conference featuring major industry players. However, London still maintains a larger number of startups and higher total funding, indicating that Paris is rapidly closing the gap rather than surpassing London in all aspects.
