Les Ballets Trockadero Perform Long-Center Ballet Parody

Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, known for their unique blend of skilled pointe work and comedic parody of classical ballets like Swan Lake, will perform at the Long Center, continuing their nearly 50-year tradition of entertaining both ballet enthusiasts and novices alike. Alberta Ballet announced its 2025/26 season, featuring seven productions that mix classical ballets with new works, including a world premiere of The Nutcracker with new choreography and designs, as well as a tribute to Vaslav Nijinsky with reinterpretations of his masterpieces. The new Prime Video series "Étoile," created by Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino, explores the world of ballet through a dramedy about two major companies in Paris and New York, highlighting behind-the-scenes drama and the art form's challenges. In contrast, Northern Ballet is facing internal strife as longtime musicians express dissatisfaction over the company’s recent decisions to replace original ensemble members and enforce confidentiality clauses, prompting at least one musician to leave the company. Meanwhile, Toni Pimble, artistic director of Eugene Ballet for 46 years, recently retired after a celebrated career that included choreographing numerous full-length story ballets and nurturing the company's growth since its founding in 1978.
