The Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) has successfully shut down Fmovies, described as the world's largest illegal streaming operation, along with affiliated sites including bflixz and vidsrc.to. This operation, based in Vietnam, garnered over 6.7 billion visits from January 2023 to June 2024 and included the arrest of two suspects by Hanoi police. Charles Rivkin, CEO of the Motion Picture Association and chairman of ACE, hailed the takedown as a significant victory for the global creative community, emphasizing a shift in anti-piracy efforts towards dismantling operations at their core. The coalition plans to continue collaborating with Vietnamese authorities and U.S. agencies to prosecute those involved. This action follows a series of shutdowns impacting other illegal streaming sites, reflecting a broader crackdown on digital piracy.
