Prosecutors Withdraw Appeal in Baldwin Case

Prosecutors in New Mexico have officially dropped their appeal to reinstate involuntary manslaughter charges against Alec Baldwin in connection with the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of 'Rust'. Special prosecutor Kari Morrissey withdrew the appeal, which sought to challenge a lower court's dismissal of the charges. The original case was dismissed in July after a judge found that prosecutors had concealed critical evidence related to the incident. Baldwin has consistently maintained his innocence, claiming he did not pull the trigger of the prop gun that discharged. The New Mexico Attorney General's office expressed disagreement with the decision but acknowledged their inability to adequately pursue the case due to various barriers. Baldwin's legal team views this dismissal as a final vindication of his stance from the beginning, emphasizing that the tragedy was not a crime on Baldwin's part.
