Girl Hospitalized After Rattlesnake Bite in Arizona

Seven-year-old Allie Brasfield from Gilbert, Arizona, spent over a week in the hospital after being bitten by a rattlesnake, an incident initially misdiagnosed by multiple medical centers. Allie and her family were jogging at Gilbert Regional Park when she fell, believing she had sprained her ankle. The absence of bite marks and the lack of visible symptoms delayed proper diagnosis, resulting in over 30 hours without appropriate treatment. Finally, Phoenix Children's Hospital identified the rattlesnake bite through a toxicology report and administered over 40 vials of antivenom. Allie underwent two surgeries to reduce leg swelling and has another surgery scheduled, followed by extensive physical therapy. Her parents expressed immense relief as Allie is now recovering at home, although she still faces a long road to full recovery.
