Amit Shah Urges Ahmedabad to Achieve Cleanliness Goal

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has urged Ahmedabad residents to support the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) in achieving the title of India's cleanest city in the next Swachh Survekshan survey. Speaking at an event after inaugurating projects worth over ₹470 crore, he emphasized the need for collective effort, drawing inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi's cleanliness movement and Prime Minister Modi's sanitation initiatives, which include building toilets and providing clean drinking water. Shah acknowledged that while immediate results may not be visible, a commitment to cleanliness is essential for lasting change. He announced plans for a two-year strategy to elevate Ahmedabad's cleanliness ranking, currently held by Indore and Surat. Shah also highlighted the significant development investments in his constituency over the past five years, totaling ₹37,000 crore. He called on citizens to emulate Surat's success in cleanliness and pledged to meet with civic officials to formulate a concrete plan for achieving these goals.
