Anderson, Roxon Named Canada's Flag-Bearers

Pat Anderson and Katarina Roxon have been named Canada's flag-bearers for the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, which will take place at Place de la Concorde. Anderson, a veteran basketball player, is competing in his sixth Paralympics and aims to secure gold for Canada after previous successes, while Roxon makes history as the first Canadian woman to compete in five Paralympics. The Canadian team consists of 126 athletes across 18 sports, looking to improve upon their 21-medal haul from the Tokyo Games. Meanwhile, Great Britain has selected wheelchair basketball player Terry Bywater and wheelchair tennis athlete Lucy Shuker as their flagbearers, both of whom have extensive Paralympic experience. Bywater, at his seventh Games, expressed his pride in leading the British team, while Shuker emphasized the honor of representing their country. The opening ceremonies are set for Wednesday evening, marking the beginning of the competition from August 28 to September 8, 2024.
