145 Syringe Attacks Reported at France Music Festival

At France's Fête de la Musique festival, at least 145 people, mainly young women and teenagers, reported being pricked with syringes, with incidents concentrated in cities like Paris and Metz. Twelve suspects were arrested nationwide following the attacks, which were allegedly encouraged by social media posts targeting women. Some victims experienced illness and were hospitalized for toxicological testing, but it remains unclear whether any substances were injected or if the attacks were coordinated. Authorities have not confirmed the use of date-rape drugs. Besides these assaults, over 370 people were arrested during the festival for various offenses, and at least 14 festivalgoers and 13 police officers suffered serious injuries. Investigations are ongoing as police continue to search for the objects used and additional suspects.
